The hotel is located at Tienhsyang (天祥), which is surrounded by beautiful gorge.
The area used to be a retreat place for Chiang Kai-shek.
The lobby is Japanese zen inspired. It is bigger than most city hotels, and definitely less crowded.
When you enter the lobby, you'll already know that it's a good place for a retreat.
Rooms are big at 40 square-metre. The Garden View Room faces the courtyard with partial mountain view.
Silks Place Taroko probably has the most beautiful hotel swimming pool I ever known.
Too bad, the weather was at 10 degree celsius.
I had my dinner at Wellesley Restaurant.
I ordered Schweinshaxe, which is deliciously done.
After dinner, I went to the courtyard and watch performance by aborigines.
For breakfast, they have a huge selection of local and western style breakfast.
There is also another dining option - Mei Yuan; which offers Taiwanese cuisine.
Silks Place Taroko offers a very good experience if you wish to stay away the hustle and bustle of the city. They also offers day trips if you wish to explore the Taroko National Park.
It was definitely a memorable trip for me.
