Better than Beef (베러댄비프) is a restaurant located near Sinsa Station, Exit 8 in Gangnam district.
As the name imply, "Better than Beef" actually specialise in Koreans favourite meet - Pork. Or more specifically, pork belly or Samgyeopsal (삼겹살) in Korean.
The restaurant setting is dim and looks more like a French fine dining restaurant than a Korean restaurant.
There are many patrons on a Saturday evening.
I ordered the original grilled samgyeopsal.
The pork belly is not greasy and has a strong herb aroma. Taste very well with the kimchi at the side.
The sundubu gratin is a hybrid of Korean sundubu (freshly curdled beancurd) and French gratin.
The concept of sundubu baked in a gratin is refreshing to me and it actually tasted really good.
The restaurant also made their own makgeolli (Korean rice wine). This is a must have while dining in this restaurant. Best coupled with the samgyeopsal.
Overall, a very nice restaurant with great food. Will definitely visit again.
